I really do love this little space of mine so much and when we get to work with places we would visit as a family on a normal day out we really do feel so grateful. I love capturing photos of my little family, it is something I really love so much and even more so on our days out because we are making forever memories.
We were recently invited to Groombridge Place and Gardens and we couldn’t have been more pleased and so thankful too because we love it here. I think one of my earliest posts was of a day at Groombirdge Place for their Halloween Spectacular (That was a really fab day). We also visited two years ago for their Easter Event. I am really glad they have kept it going because it is such a lovely event.
Just this weekend gone we headed over to the Easter Extravaganza Event and it definitely did not disappoint.
As soon as we arrived we went to the cafe for a drink and then headed into the forest. It is a fair walk and sometimes the pop up cafe in the actual forest is shut. So if I could give you any advice I would make sure you take a drink with you into the forest.
We soon arrived in the forest and sat down for the Easter show featuring some of the fantastic characters from Alice in Wonderland. Both Sophia and Archie we completely mesmerised and did not move from their seats.
The show was fab the actors and actresses did such a brilliant job. It is really fun as they keep their characters through the whole day and it was really exciting for Sophia and Archie seeing them around Groombridge Place while we were walking around.
After the show we took the canal ride back to the main entrance. You must purchase your canal tickets at the admissions office on arrival.
The sun was out all day and for part of our time there we actually lay in the Gardens and just enjoyed the sun. Archie lay on me and Sophia sat on Daniel’s back, and we chatted, the children telling us all sorts of things.
They told us about the best part of their day and lots of other sillyness that I just cant remember, I just remember we genuinely laughed and laughed. They really do make me smile and its these moments in parenthood that I almost yearn for. They are so rewarding, realising the bond between your children and yourself is growing and strengthening in certain moments. This was certainly one of those moments.
I remember back when I used to be a little nervous to take my camera out in public even my phone actually. But now I almost feel that having my camera in hand gives me more confidence. I get the most beautiful photos of my family and I get to keep them. I can remind Sophia and Archie of our special times together when they are older, they may certainly forget these times. And this way, visually at least, they will always be able to see how very much we loved them and loved spending our time with them.
I would definitely say if you ever feel a little nervous or awkward to take your camera out and snap a moment, just do it. Don’t hold back. I did for a long time before I started my blog even in the early days of writing my blog. But just look where it has taken me. I know my photos are not the best but they mean so very much to me. They capture some of our time as a family and the value on that to me is priceless.
Talking about photos it is also so lovely that I get to share our adventures with you. In doing so I hope it makes you determined to make your own family memories and adventures and to live your life to its fullest.
It was so cute actually, Daniel has made quite a family tradition (which I am not sure he realises), he always comes up with an exciting and fun game with the children and I when we are out and this day was no exception.
He decided to get them to race against each other. They did this for ages running around the trees and back to us. Laughing so much both fell over a few times. In the end both Daniel and I started running with them. It was loads of fun! I managed to get an action shot of Daniel and Archie racing each other. I absolutely love this picture. I just look at their faces and Archie’s huge laugh and I cant help but smile and burst with pride. As Archie would put it: “I love you all up in mine heart”.
We had the most amazing time here at Groombridge Place and of course we will definitely be back to visit again. We wholeheartedly recommend visiting Groombridge. The Easter Extravaganza is on until the 17th of April from 10am-5pm, so all through half term, a perfect time to visit.
