Sophia my little angel my little princess. The little girl whom has stolen my heart. My little girl. Who for 4 years has managed to make me the proudest mum in the world.

I still can’t quiet fathom how you are going to be starting school in September. My first baby is making another transition in her life. A very exciting one too. Although a little daunting for both of us I want to make a promise to you that I will be gentle with you.

I know that school is going to be a big adjustment for you. Not being at home with mum everyday anymore. It’s a huge thing and I want it to be as easy and enjoyable for you as humanely possible. I promise to remember that you starting school is just like mummy starting a new job, there will be lots of other children some who you have not met before, work that you have never encountered before, you will have to concentrate so that you can learn and you will have to listen to someone new other than mum, you will have to work hard everyday. You will most likely come home very tired after lots of stimulation from your new surrounds.

Part of you will be excited and love your new school but part of you will also find it very exhausting and hard work trying to do your best and take it all in.

So with all this taken into consideration I make a promise to you that I will be gentle on you, I will love you more than I ever have, I will guide you as much as I can, listen to you and truly try my hardest to be there for you more than I ever have. I want you to feel secure, happy and truly loved so that you can thrive, have confidence and believe in yourself.

Because if you could see yourself through my eyes you would see how amazing you are. You blow me away. You are beautiful, wise beyond your years and kind. You are so loving and so gentle, you like to do well and show mummy you can. All this about you makes me worry less. It makes me proud and it makes me feel like the luckiest mummy in the world. Thank you for choosing me and I promise to do my best to help you as your start this next chapter in your life.
