Kitchen Extension Update

kitchen extension update It has been eight months now since my husband fitted our new kitchen. It has completely changed since the first post I did on it. It looks more like our kitchen now, we have added oak beam shelving and have a rug which makes the room nice and cosy. It all adds to the feel of the kitchen and I really feel I can call it our own now. Here is a picture when the makeover was first completed and a comparison to what it looks like now, let me know what you think of the comparison:

I did a post last year about possibly extending our kitchen. This was before we decided to give it a whole new makeover and so we chose that over the extension at the time because the kitchen in its original state was very old and needed an update.

We have been thinking about our extension again and actually I have been looking on Pinterest quite a lot lately for ways that we could really make the new kitchen extension benefit us and make the most of the new space. With the extension we plan on making it into a dinning area with more cupboard space. There are no definite plans in place yet but hoping to go ahead this year. We will see how it all works out.

I think windows play a huge part in the overall feel of a room because if they are not big enough or don’t let in enough light it can really change the whole feel of the room. I think the more light the better. I love the feel of this room I think the light really brings the room to life and again all achievable through VELUX windows.

I really like the idea of not having a ceiling as such and rather to go with a high ceiling, where the ceiling takes the shape of the roof. Which will completely open the room up and make it feel a lot bigger. So we would definitely be going with VELUX windows and offer some really great VELUX blinds for the VELUX windows we are considering. Here are some pictures of what I have in mind:

I am most looking forward to having the light pour into the room. It always makes a room look more inviting and is so up-lifting. VELUX windows really offer this depending on how your house is positioned. We are lucky where we are as our house is like a sun trap, it gets so much light, so I think we will definitely benefit from having VELUX windows fitted, looking forward to choosing VELUX blinds too.

Aah I LOVE these ideas Tanita!!!!! Absolutely gorgeous. I love it when they fill in the side return of a property with a glass structure, rather than brick. So lovely to let the light in. There’s a company called Apropos who do amazing ones! 🙂

I LOVE all your ideas for inspiration Tanita- especially the last one. We have a lot of value windows in our house as it’s a barn conversion and the natural light that floods in is just wonderful. Loved seeing the progresssion of your kitchen too- it looks like it’s been a real labour of love and the finishing touches look so homely 🙂 xx
