The restaurant itself is situated in the centre of Sevenoaks amidst a beautiful view. The restaurant seats up to 100 diners and includes an elegant private dining room, perfect for parties, special occasions and corporate events.
Being parents means we don’t always get a moment away so it was nice to be able to sneak a few hours in without the children, drink some wine and enjoy a delicious meal.
My first impressions of The Vine Restaurant was that it was very sophisticated and luxurious. Beautiful lights and table decor made the restaurant look extremely elegant. I absolutely love that it is a family run business too.
We met the owners, husband and wife, Bernt and Kathleen Bourverie, who were extremely accommodating, and made us feel completely at home. They bought the old Vine Tavern in 2006 and transformed it into The beautiful Vine Restaurant that it is today. They have added beautiful glass doors across the front, which creates such a relaxed setting. Having the beautiful scenery outside in such clear view is lovely while enjoying your meal.
The restaurant itself has a luxurious yet cosy feel and the atmosphere is lovely. They offer everything from fine dinning, to a comfortable and relaxed breakfast. There really is so much on offer to suit everyone.
The Vine also operates Vine Events, an events catering service, which offers quality bespoke catering and waiting service for weddings, parties and corporate events across Kent and the South East.
I will admit I have never been to a wine pairing before, so it was a lovely experience for me. An actually I was pleasantly surprised at how well the wines complimented the meals. It emphasises how important your choice of wine is. My taste buds were literally in heaven, even more so when I had the desert along with the sweet wine. It was delicious.
I left feeling spoilt but also humbled to have met such wonderful people. To have met a family who together have created a friendly, relaxed and welcoming local setting through their shared passion. I found it such an inspiring evening. I met some great people including the very lovely journalists from Kent Messenger who we were sat opposite.
I will move on and tell you about the lovely meal we enjoyed. I have to say both Kathleen and Bernt were extremely accommodating to my vegetarian needs. The food was absolutely delicious.
Before starting the meal we enjoyed Canapés, Smoked Salmon Blini and Venison Scotch Egg, Mushroom Arancini (vegetarian). Along with Damien Hugot Cru Champagne, Epernay.
To start we enjoyed English Asparagus with Morels and Crispy Egg with Squerryes, 2011, Sparkling Wine, Westerham.
Wen then had the Shellfish Cocktail with Limoux, 2012, Toques et Clochers, Languedoc. Which was delicious.
For main my husband had Best End Lamb with Spring Peas and Pommes Anna (I had a deliciously grilled Cod), with Pannobile, 2011, Beck, Burgenland, Austria.
For desert was something I had never tried before and it was absolutly scrumptious! Baked Yoghurt with Strawberry with Monbazillac, 2012, Ancienne Cure, South West France.
The Vine Restaurant serves a Vegan dish on request, but this needs to be booked in before arriving so they are able to prepare the meal specifically. I think it is great that they are so hospitable to other dietary requirements. They offer gluten free, and most food served is gluten free.
I was really impressed but like I said I also felt really comfortable and enjoyed a completely relaxed evening with great company. I couldn’t recommend visiting the Vine enough.

The Vine has teamed up with Squerryes Estate in Westerham and is offering a Lobster and Fizz, half a lobster with a glass of English Sparkling wine for £22 to coincide with English Wine Week.
Across half-term, The Vine is offering a free “Little Ones Breakfast” with each adult breakfast. Just quote “Pancakes” when booking.
