A lovely family picnic

It was national picnic week last week and we managed to get out for a picnic over the weekend. The weather had been so lovely too. We had a really lovely day together. We had found a beautiful new picnic spot quite local to us and it was a little hidden treasure. There were ducks right next to us swimming in the lake and walking past us. A large green area for the children to play ball and run around and plenty of space to set up a picnic. It was really secluded too so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves which was really nice too.

It is always lovely to have family time and even more so when its a special occasion. On this particular day it was fathers day and it had just been my birthday too so it was a really special weekend for us as a family. What we enjoy more then anything is the outdoors and spending time together so we made a very large picnic that morning using our lovely picnic bag from B&M had a look online for a beautiful picnic spot and headed out for the day.

The children were both really excited they love finding new places with us and we all had such a lovely time. There were carps in the lake as well and one of them was quite big he kept chasing one little duck. The children found this quite amusing and enjoyed looking out for him in the water.

Daniel’s family joined us later on at the picnic and we all had some quality time together. I managed to capture a very rare photo of the children with their grandparents too which I am really pleased about as I want to do a feature wall of the family in our new dinning room.

I did write a blog earlier on in the year saying that I wanted to make the effort to take our camera out on more family days out and capture more of the children with their grandparents. So I am really pleased. Its a lovely photo too. It was quite difficult to capture a posed photo of everyone looking at the camera at the same time. As it was later on in the day the children didn’t really want to sit still. But I like it even more because of that because it shows their cheeky little personalities!

Thank you so much to B&M for sending us the lovely picnic bag we are really pleased with it. We were able to pack so much food as there was plenty of room inside. It came with little ice coolers, napkins, plates, cups, knives and forks, spoons and a blanket. So precisely everything you need for a lovely family picnic.

We are supposed to be heading off to one of our favourite places  this weekend, the New Forest, to go camping so we will definitely be taking our picnic bag from B&M with us.

Picnics are the best! Especially when you have a fancy one with plates. It’ll be perfect to take on your break away. I find cool bags so much more practical than hampers xx

I love a picnic. It’s honestly my idea of a perfect day out, and it’s even better if you have the right tools / bags etc. to take all your food with you. We have picnics all the time here and it makes me so happy when a friend asks to go for a picnic 🙂

I love picnics! Just being able to eat outdoors with the kids and not worry about mess and crumbs on the floor at home. When the weather becomes sunny again I may even picnic on a daily basis lol 😉

Its always lovely to have pictures with the family. Both Dads in the family (my husband and my dad) are quite shy to the camera so I hardly have the pictures of them looking at the camera. It is always when they are looking somewhere else! Kids are OK though 🙂 The Picnic bag seems quite comfortable! I have never seen one coming with a picnic blanket!

When the sun comes out, so do the picnic blankets. It’s the perfect relaxed family gathering. You can adapt your basketful of goodies to different diets and include as much make-ahead or on-the-spot prep as you like with your preferred balance of sweet and savoury tastes.
