I have finally found a little time to sit down and write about our trip to Cyprus. We arrived home on Monday evening and we are all settled back at home and waiting for the English weather to warm up!
My mum and sister organised a villa in Cyprus and invited us. Daniel wasn’t able to make it as he had a Stag Do to attend which he had organised. I thought that it would be such a fantastic opportunity for me to take the children abroad this year I decided to go. We organised everything and I told the children about our solo trip without daddy. They were upset that he couldn’t make it but were of course very excited to be going on holiday.
While we were on holiday my sister attended a wedding, I managed to take a few pictures of her, she looked beautiful.
I was a little nervous going away without Daniel. We have never been apart for more then a day for many years now, so this 5 day long trip is the most time we have spent apart since he left the army over 7 years ago. Of course I was a little apprehensive as we do everything together. Luckily I went with my mum and sisters so the holiday was more like a home away from home. But of course felt like something was missing without Daniel.
We had the most amazing time. There is something so wonderful about being on holiday. Away from the everyday routine and just to shake life up a bit, different scenery, food and culture. All experiences which are so wonderful for the children.
My sister booked our villa through Airbnb and I was really impressed with the whole process. The villa was lovely and the owner was fantastic too. We weren’t sure where to put the bins and he emailed us back within the hour. We stayed in the very beautiful Paphos in Cyprus and I fell in love. It reminded me of South Africa, it was a paradise. The banana trees, palm trees, and bougainvillea flowers everywhere took me back in time to my childhood in South Africa. It made me feel very much at home.
On our first morning we woke late due to only arriving at our villa early hours of the morning. We all got ourselves ready for the day and took a lovely walk in the sun to a local restaurant and had a delicious breakfast. It was more like a brunch as we had salads and roasted vegetables. But delicious all the same.
We then walked back and the children couldn’t wait to get in the pool so we got changed as soon as we arrived back at the villa. We grabbed the suncream, our towels and the children’s armbands and headed out the back door.
We were in a lovely area of Paphos, most of the houses were owned by residents so the communal pool was quiet and we were the only ones there for most of the day which was just lovely.
We came back and forth for treats and a ball for the children to play with. They kept themselves busy for hours around the pool playing all sorts of different games. They picked a couple of leaves and did a massage and spa treatment for me and my sister Khaila.
They made a tent, found a fishing rod and fished for sharks and crocodiles. Sophia pretended to be a mermaid and they both made us laugh so much. They had a few wobbles but all in all the day was well spent and we had a lovely time.
It was lovely for the children to spend some time with my sister Khaila. Archie enjoyed cuddling her and putting the towel over her head!
I took so many of them together. But I really found it hard to narrow it down. So I thought I would share them all. It is a beautiful memory and he looks so cute, my boy.
The pool was just lovely, and the view was absolutely stunning. It overlooked the ocean and it was dreamy.
Sophia enjoyed some drawing and she looked so cute. We misplaced her sunglasses so she ended up using everyone else’s! I did actually find them when we were home when I unpacked everything, which is typical isn’t it!
We came back to our villa just after 4pm for some food. Archie was so tired I put him to sleep at 5pm and Sophia at 6pm. My mum and I then enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and had a lovely chat. It was great to spend some time with her.
I have so many more photos to share and will do so in Part Two.
I also created a vlog, watch Part one here:
