Reflections on 2015

reflections on 2015

Is 2015 really over, already?

Is it too late to wish you a happy New Year! We are already in the first week of January. I can’t quite believe it.

I can’t quite put into words how beautiful 2015 has been for me. I really feel I have transformed, I have a lot more confidence and I value myself. I never knew my worth and I feel I am closer then ever to really valuing who I am. Its been a journey this last year and  a beautiful one. I turned 26 too! Im so truly thankful for this year and I really cannot wait to see what awaits me and my family in 2016.

These Christmas holidays have been the most wonderful for us as a family. We have taken the time to really take a step back and connect again.

With Sophia starting school in September things became a little crazy as we settled into routine and got used to early mornings and early nights. It’s always adjusting to changes that takes time.

So when the Christmas holidays came along it really was a time of rest for us and we did exactly that for once. We are not particularly good at staying at home and resting. As a family we prefer to get out and do lots of exploring, visiting and seeing friends. But sometimes your body has other ideas. Sometimes we really need to listen and to rest to re charge our batteries and get ready for the next season or chapter.

In this case it was getting ready for the year ahead. Our routine went back to normal on Monday and the children both had a lovely day.

I did too. I stayed at home and got through lots of emails I had received over the Christmas period and did a bit of blogging work. I have just registered myself as self employed which is a huge milestone for me. I have been putting it off for a couple of months but thought If I didn’t do it now I would keep putting it off. I need to submit my tax return this April as I have been earning from my blog this year, so I am pleased I can tick that off my list. It felt so strange registering as self employed, especially because I love blogging and I get to earn money from it, thats amazing to me. Blogging has given me a whole new lease of life.

It’s all quite exciting really and something I never expected to happen. I came into this blogging world quite naively. I have learnt a lot but I am still learning everyday. I use Monday’s as my business day and try to get through all my emails and organise the week ahead as much as I can. I set goals for the week and fill in my planner with all the scheduled bits and bobs I have planned for the month ahead.

I have only recently become a little more organised over the last few months, due to just feeling all over the place with no structure and especially as I am getting a lot more work I need to organise my time as best I can, making sure it fits into our daily lives. I love structure, I love knowing exactly what my intentions are and what I am doing over the course of the month.

Last year was my first year blogging. Which was an absolutely amazing year, so many wonderful and exciting opportunities. I attended my first blogging conference which was Britmums and had the most amazing time. I can’t even express how happy the whole experience made me. I am surrounded by so many strong supportive woman. We really are a great team here in the blogging community. I feel I have a shoulder to lean on and advice when I need it, all I have to do is ask and that is a great feeling. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.

I feel so lucky and fortunate to have my blog. I have come a really long way from when I first began last December. I still have such a long way to go and lots of plans ahead but I love that there is opportunity at every corner and something exciting to look forward to, and that everyday is different, and most importantly what you make it. I love that about it.

I have two really exciting projects I am involved in over the next few months. One is a personal stylist session which I can’t wait to experience as I have never had the pleasure of hiring a personal stylist before. So I really am looking forward to learning a lot.

We are also going to be featured in a glossy parenting magazine later this year which is so very exciting and something I feel so lucky to be involved in.

I have worked with some really great brands this year which has been amazing and so much fun and we have attended some great events.

I had the pleasure of meeting some really inspiring people this year through blogging and in my normal day to day life. Did I mention I also graduated too! I also qualified as a reiki practitioner which has given me so much clarity. I am just absolutely loving life and enjoying every moment, there is so much to look forward to and that just makes me smile. I couldn’t ask for more. I am just so genuinely happy with it all.

I am enjoying this chapter in my life so much. Blogging is so much more wonderful then I expected. I feel blessed.

2016 looks to be a very successful year, I will enjoy writing lots more about my family and our life over here on this lovely blog of mine, we have lots of home improvement plans, for the house and our garden this summer, I want to focus on my writing more too.

I can’t wait to share the upcoming projects we are involved in over here. And I look forward to lots more exciting opportunities. I love blogging so much, I love writing, I love capturing snippets of our life in this way. I feel so lucky I get to do it. I feel so lucky I get to share it and most of all I feel so lucky to have all of you blogging pals and non blogging pals along for the journey.

Happy New Year everyone, it is going to be a good one.

My wish for 2015 I wrote last year if you want to read it.

Thanks so much Ana. Yes there are quite a few ways, through Google Adsense, and through sponsored work and collaborations. There are lots of great posts online with advice on how to monitise your blog. I am still learning but with more experience behind me I might do a post on it all in the future x

Looks like you had a great year. I was planning to go to the britmums this year but I have already taken my holidays for the year because we are getting married in July. But I suppose there’s always unpaid leave. I would just have to travel on my own from Ireland which is a bit of a bugger.
