“There is beauty in everyday”
Is it me or is March flying by!? I cant believe it. It will soon be the Easter holidays, which I am so looking forward to we have some fun days out planned. We will be taking the children to Groombridge Place for Alice’s circus adventures Easter event. We visited previously and it was absolutely amazing. We had such a brilliant time and have said we definitely need to go back. This year will be great because Archie is now three and I think he will thoroughly enjoy it.
We are also going to visit the Canterbury Tales which I visited as a child but can barely remember if I am honest. I am so looking forward to taking the children and reminding myself. It is always fun to visit places with the children. Especially as a family. I am hoping Daniel can come with us to both. They are my most favourite days when we are all together.
The children both have swimming lessons over the half term too and we will spend quite a bit of our time at home in our garden getting it all ready for the summery days that await us. I get a little giddy just thinking about summer. I love all the changing seasons, they all have something so unique and different to offer.
I cant believe the weekend is over already. It was the first weekend in a long time where we have seen friends and taken a much more relaxed approach to works on the house. We got a fair bit done but we were more relaxed about it which was nice. Also my dad came down to visit so that helped too.
We woke up pretty early Saturday morning and I made us all a nice full english. My mum came over at 9am to watch Sophia and Archie for two hours which was really handy as they were still in their pj’s at 9am. Dan and I went to buy the tiles for our bathroom, and the rest of the timber ready for boarding. We brought the children back some ninja turtle outfits which we picked up in Sainsbury’s as a surprise for them, and they were so pleased. Archie’s face is just a picture.
They spent some time running around being ninjas. There is a story behind it. A little family routine of ours, (mostly in the winter months) is to put a nice family film on. We don’t always but mostly in the colder months it is a must with cosy blankets and popcorn and some peanut M&M’s. It is something we all tend to look forward to as we all fit quite snug on our four seater sofa. We sit close touching shoulders, or elbows in Archie’s case and watch a film together. Just a few weekends ago Dan put the ninja turtles on for us all to watch together and since then they have both been obsessed. I have to say I really enjoyed it too its a great film.
Its little family routines of ours like this that I treasure so much. Its the security and the love between us that grows even in the small things, the things we do on repeat, the kisses before bed, the little treat after school they eagerly expect. Seeing my face at school pick up, my hand in theirs, my cuddles. All these things and more contribute to our bond and I am so thankful every single day I get to raise these two. I get to stay with them. We are all growing together as a family and the joy I feel in moments shared with them sometimes I find hard to put into words. But in short I am so thankful they made me their mummy.
Saturday afternoon Sophia went to her friends party, wearing her beautiful Cinderella dress and pink wellington boots. I had brought her an Elsa dress but when she tried it on it itched her arms and she said she couldn’t wear it. So we took a trip back to the supermarket to exchange it which I didn’t mind doing because I wanted her to be happy and comfortable. Nothing worse then feeling uncomfortable when you should be concentrating on having fun. We also had a nice cuppa in the cafe together and a little chat about her week at school. It was so nice, its lovely to have these moments with her, I think we should do them more often.
That evening we had our lovely friends over for a steak dinner. It was a really nice day.
Here is a little snap of Sophia in the evening before bed. She is forever cuddling her cats. Just like her mummy. We are both crazy cat ladies. We love our cats so much.
On Sunday rather unexpectedly both my sister and in laws called and we invited them over for breakfast. A full english again. We do love a full English on the weekends its our little treat, and kind of a little routine of ours too. If we don’t go out for a full english we have one at home. Its nice to have a cooked breakfast on the weekend as in the week its usually toast, cereal or porridge as with the school run anything speedy will do.
We worked a little more on the house for the rest of the day. And then went to our friends house for a beef wellington dinner, I had some red wine too. It was a lovely evening and Sophia and Archie had a ball playing with their friends.
This weekend was so needed especially after a crazy few weeks previously which I wrote about. But things have settled down now and I am feeling so much better. Its the simplest of things that can make such a difference to daily life. It is nice to see friends and family, sometimes when you have too much on you can forget to make time for those things.
