A Garden Retreat

Garden retreat

Last week I posted about my reflections on 2015 and mentioned achieving qualified Reiki Practitioner status. We have an unused summer house in the back garden and in the winter and most year round it has actually just been a storage room and not used for anything. It was one of my goals to give it a makeover and find a use for it. So it has become my very own little garden retreat!

Here is the before of the outside, my husband had already boarded and painted the inside at this point. garden retreat

Here is the after of the outside:

All is now in process as I go about starting my second business from home alongside my blog.

It is all quite exciting and new of course. It is going to fit perfectly around raising my two little ones and doing all my motherly and wifely duties. I really believe the people that need it will be sent my way. I am very relaxed about the whole venture and satisfied to watch it unfold in front of me.

Of course I want to show you inside the treatment room which my husband made over for me. I really am lucky in that respect, he did the whole thing himself for me as he did the kitchen, and I am so grateful. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without him. He spent a lot of the summer working on it and boarding the inside, laying new flooring and painting it. He does so much for me and I do tell him how grateful I am. Although I couldn’t tell him enough.

I have just been treating family and friends at the moment more out of pure enjoyment on my part. I do love giving and receiving the treatment it is so lovely in so many ways. But this post is not to explain it all. I am setting up a new website where I plan on explaining and writing all about it. But I am in the very early stages with that.

So let me show you around the room.

Firstly I chose the colour green as I think this is a perfect colour to represent what I want my business to stand for and to represent. Green is such a natural and holistic colour, I always favour branded items with a green logo, it just says organic to me.

My mum actually brought me the massage bed as a gift once I graduated. Which I was so pleased with, it is such a comfy bed and you are able to move it into many different positions. So great all round.

I wanted the room to reflect a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, where relaxation can really be achieved.

I purchased the shelves from B&M when I was in Wales if I remember rightly and they were so cheap. The lights are from eBay as that was the only place I could find the specific ones that I wanted. The room also has a light dimmer! Which is so handy and really allows me to set the tone.

All the decorations like the orchids, the Buddha ornament and the blankets and covers for the massage bed as well as the curtains are from The Range.

My husbands parents actually advised me to go to The Range. We went a couple of weekends ago and brought all the bits for the room from there. It was my first time visiting The Range and I was very pleasantly surprised with the price of most of their products, which was perfect for my budget starting up a new business.

It is always important to be aware of a starting out budget you might have when first setting up while you grow your business. Target is a great store where you can budget when purchasing things for your home, or new business. It is always great to shop around and get the best deals. Something I enjoy doing if the product is good quality and suits my needs.

Although this is going to be a treatment room it is so much more then that. It is my little room that I have put so much energy into and care, as well as my husband. It has a lovely feel to it especially in the evenings when we dim the lights and set it up. We have a small electric heater in there and it works perfectly and really heats the room up.

It has started to get so cold lately. Winter is here for sure!

Oh wow, that is beautiful and really feels like a ‘retreat’, well away from the rest of the world. The green works really well.

That room is beautiful and so calming. I also like the colour green as it seems so natural and fresh. You are so lucky to have a hubby who is good at DIY. My hubby can manage a shelf if it’s already made up.

I was wondering about the heating situation, it has gone chilly in the evenings. It looks like an ideal space , which you have made it look so calm relaxing. Good luck with your new venture xx

Hello Tanita! Thanks so much for linking up with us! My house was hit with the dreaded winter sick bug last week so I’m so behind with my comments. Just catching up now! I absolutely LOVE your new workspace!!!!!! Ohmygoodness — HOW exciting?! Mine is in the process of being built, as we speak. The thought of having a dedicated space to work in is the best thing ever isn’t it? I WISH you lived closer to me — I’d definitely come for some Reiki! 🙂

PS #HomeEtc is live tomorrow from 6.30am xx
